8/6/1860 White Oak Twp, El Dorado Co, CA. There was an Aaron Powell,2 8, born IL, living there with the family of a John Rodgers at censusti me. He was a miner with property worth $1100/400. Several otherminer s were neighbors.
6/22/1870 Carson City Twp, Ormsby Co, NV. At census time it appearsA P owell, 37, born IL, lived in either a hotel or huge all-maleboarding h ouse run by the family of blacksmith and Lt Gov of NV, JSSlingerland. A aron was a miner and the only Powell in the county.
6/29/1880 Lyon Co, NV near Silver City. Aaron Powell, 47, born inIL, h ad moved just up the road from the previous address but wasstill minin g. He lived alone. The information giver said Aaron'sfather was born i n KY, his mother in Scotland (?). The neighborswere mostly miners as w ell.
9/16/1882 White Oak Twp, El Dorado Co, CA. Before he registerd tovot e, he had crossed back over the state line to a previous address.At th at time he said he was 40 yrs old (actually nearer 50), a nativeof Ill inois, and living in White Oak Township.
1894 He was again listed in the Great Register, at age 62, anddescrib ed as as being 6 ft 3/4 in tall, lt. complexion, blue eyes andgrey hai r. He was still a miner, b. Illinois, and residing at Gray'sFlat, wit h voting precinct at Wing's Store and PO at Shingle Springs.
6/25/1900 White Oak Twp, El Dorado Co, Ca. That census recorded hima t age 67 and boarding with the family of widow Julia H Gray. Hisoccup ation was still mining
