David, our progenitor, along with several brothers, fought in the AmRev for which they received land grants in OH.

By trade he was a joiner (woodwork carpenter) and he operated mills. He raised a large family, nearly all of whem went west.

As late as 12/2007 his Bible was in posession of Mrs. James A Complon,1522 West Main St., Springfield, Ohio.

Residences and events:

1777 Earl Twp, Lancaster Co, PA. Listed for the first time on taxassessor's list, he and brother John were non-associators (A taxpayerwho refused to take the oath of allegiance to the new revolutionarygovernment. In that part of the state this usually meant they wereMennonites or other Anabaptist in religious faith.) A James Gondy wasalso listed w ith 30 acres. Who was he?

1782 Berks Co, PA, where daughter, Mary was born.

In the Pennsylvania Herald & York General Advertiser was thefollowing: " Whereas Barbara Felger, obtained of the subscriber, onepromissary note , persons are forewarned from taking assignment onsame - David Gundy, M anheim Twp, York Co." No relationship betweenthe two was stated. Brother, Peter, was a resident of the samecounty.

From Janice Sweeney: "I am researching the Henry Dasher family ofCoventry and Vincent Twps Chester Co PA. Henry I Dasher is my earliestknow n ancestor and I am trying to find his father. In the course ofmy search I have obtained a copy of his estate written and recorded in1791. I have found the name "David Gundy" who evidently owed Henry anote of 4 pounds 18sh at the time of Henry's death on the inventory ofhis estate taken by Henry. While googling the name I found your familyinfo and I find it extremely interesting that your site mentions HansGunde a membe r of the German Baptist Brethren from Creyfelf, arr1729. Henry I Dasher was a member of the Coventry Church of theBrethren, the 2nd known church established in America (afterGermantown) by this group. Martin Urner, the minister of the CoventryCOB is the admin of Henry's estate.

I thought you would be interested in this bit of info regarding DavidGundy who also showed up on an early list of residents in Pikeland."
