Some insight into June and Earl's personalities may be gained by thefo llowing story as related by her sister, Dorisgene:
"One year while we lived in the country at Neoga, we had aparty...even h ad a band. It was getting late in the evening and Earlwanted to go ho me but June wasn't ready to leave. Later hereitereated the wish but a gain, June wouldn't. Finally, he said,'OK, I'll just walk home!' We a ll thought, sure he will, it's 13miles to town and another 3 to their h ouse! Well, there goes Abiedown the lane....and he didn't come back! W e all tried to give him alift, even the sheriff tried as he passed by. A bie's response was,'No!! I said I'm walking home, and I'm walking home !' The nextmorning when we checked on both of them, Abie had stopped a t therailroad shop (where he worked) to rest, and June was home asleep !No one ever questioned whether Abie could walk home again."
As June's niece and nephew, we spent some quality time with June andEa rl and found June to be a quick wit, kept us in constant laughter. We e ven took them with us on a week-end trip and had the best timeever. (J ane and Dale Van Gundy)
