She worked in shoe sales, first at Myers Brothers Dept store, then atP hipps Shoe at Young's Dept store. She was a active member of theBapti st Church, the denomination of her family for generations,holding vari ous offices through the years.
Dorothy died of metastatic ovarian cancer of 18 month duration.
The funeral was held at the First Baptist Church in Mattoon on aMonday m orning with Rev. E.E. Elliott officating. Pallbearers wererepresentat ives of each of her children's families: Sean, Brian, andTodd Van Gun dy, Doug McClellan, Cory Buckly, and Kent and TaraWetzel, Kent being t he only non descendant.
