DALE E. VAN GUNDY, age 64, or Raleigh, North Carolina, formerly ofMatt oon and Olney, Illinois passed away at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday,December 2 8, 2004, at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
A memorial service in tribute to his life will begin at 7 p.m. onThurs day, January 6 in the chapel of Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300St. Mary' s Street.
Dale was born June 19, 1940, in Mattoon, a son of J. D. and Dorothy(Ar thur) Van Gundy. He married his sweetheart, Jane Thayer on July 3,1960 .
Survivors include: his loving wife, Jane Van Gundy of Raleigh; hisfive c hildren, Todd Van Gundy and wife, Michelle of Raleigh, JulieRhoads and h usband, Rod of Germantown Hills, IL, Brian Van Gundy andwife, Robin of O lney, IL, Sean Van Gundy and wife, Sarah of Clayton,and Jamie Brown an d husband, Sean of Wake Forest; his father andstepmother, J. D. and Do die Van Gundy of Mattoon; three sisters,Phyllis McClellan and husband, S teve of Chambersburg, PA, BarbaraBuckley and husband, Bob of Mattoon, T erri Wetzel and husband, Markof Champaign; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Van Gundy.
Mr. Van Gundy was formerly employed with Ameren C.I.P.S. for 31 years.F ollowing his retirement, he enjoyed working part-time for SchillingFun eral Home in Mattoon and when he and Jane moved to North Carolina,he a lso enjoyed working with Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Raleigh.Dale was a v ery gifted and talented man and thoroughly enjoyedworking with people a s well as spending time on the golf course andmost importantly with hi s family.
Memorial gifts in his honor are suggested to a charity of the donor'sc hoice.

Dale E. Van Gundy, 64, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Mattoon andOlney, p assed away at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at CarleFoundation H ospital in Urbana.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Schilling Funeral Home inM attoon. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeralhome w ith Reverend Richard Coen officiating.
Burial will be in Restitution Cemetery, seven miles south of Casey.
Mr. Van Gundy was born on June 19, 1940, in Mattoon, the son of J.D.an d Dorothy (Arthur) Van Gundy. He married his sweetheart Jane Thayeron J uly 3, 1960. She survives.

Mr. Van Gundy is survived by his loving wife, Jane Van Gundy, ofRaleig h, N.C.; five children, Todd Van Gundy and his wife, Michelle,of Ralei gh, N.C., Julia Rhoads and her husband, Rod, of GermantownHills, Brian V an Gundy and his wife, Robin, of Olney, Sean Van Gundyand his wife, Sa rah, of Clayton, N.C., and Jamie Brown and herhusband, Sean, of Wake F orest, N.C.; his father and stepmother, J.D.and Dodie Van Gundy, of Ma ttoon; three sisters, Phyllis McClellan andher husband, Steve, of Cham bersburg, Penn., Barbara Buckley and herhusband, Bob, of Mattoon, and T erri Wetzel and her husband, Mark, ofChampaign; and 13 grandchildren.
