CAPE GIRARDEAU - Eloise Ashworth, 90, formerly of Mattoon, IL andSikes ton, died December 8, 2010 at Chateau Girardeau in CapeGirardeau, MO. V isitation for family and friends will be from 9:30a.m. until time of s ervices at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at theSchilling Funeral Home, 1 301 Charleston Ave., in Mattoon. The Rev.Geoff Posegate, pastor of Fir st United Methodist Church, and Rev. RonSpell, pastor of Wesley United M ethodist Church, will officiate.Burial will follow in the Rest Haven M emorial Gardens in Mattoon.Eloise was born April 7, 1920 in Coles Coun ty, IL, daughter of thelate Fred J. and Pansy (Evans) Arthur. On June 1 , 1936 in Charleston,IL, she married Maurice Ashworth; he preceded her i n death September27, 2010. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-l aw, Rex &Christy Ashworth of Byron, IL; one daughter, Patty Ginder of Sikeston; one sister, Joy Ryan of Mansfield, Ohio; four grandchildren,J ason and Billie Ginder and Joshua and Misty Ginder all of Sikestonand M ichael and Meaghan Ashworth of Byron; and twogreat-grandchildren, Jon a nd Addison Ginder of Sikeston. She was alsopreceded in death by one so n-in-law, Richard Ginder, one brother andthree sisters. Mrs. Ashworth w as a member of Pleasant Grove BaptistChurch in Cooks Mill, IL where sh e taught Sunday school, VacationBible School, played piano and sang in t he choir, a member ofBroadway Christian Church and she later became a m ember of WesleyUnited Methodist Church in Sikeston. She was a charter m ember of ZionUnit of Coles County Extension, active with the American C ancerSociety, the Linus Project where they made quilts and dolls for pediatric units in the area hospitals, a 4-H leader of CookmillLivewire s. She was office manager of My Store for many years, workedat Burger K ing, Brown Shoe Company, and Icenogles Grocery.
