ARTHUR, ILLINOIS
"Edward W. "Bill" Agge, 91, Arthur, passed away at 2:50 p.m. Monday(March 28, 2011) at the Heartland Health Care Center, Normal.
Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Arthur Cemetery,Arthur. Military graveside rites will be accorded. The Rev. ThomasWirsing will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday atthe Sh rader Funeral Home, Arthur.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arthur Lions Club.
Mr. Agge was born March 2, 1920, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son ofGeorge H. and Hilka Niederhauser Agge. He married Catherine L. Powellon Oct. 20, 1946, near Arthur. She preceded him in death on Jan. 4,2007.
Bill is survived by two sons, Ronald (Marietta) Agge, Bloomington, andRichard (Lisa) Agge, Sullivan; two sisters, June Traxler, Arthur, andRuth (Glenn) Herz, Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren and sixgreat-grand children; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife."
Mr. Agge served from 1942 until 1946 in the U.S. Army. He served as ana mphibian tank commander. He enjoyed making whirly gigs and otherwoodwo rking projects.
He liked flowers, dogs, hunting mushrooms and collecting Indianrelics. B ill worked at Progress Industries and FS for many years. Hewas an avid C hicago Cubs fan and fisherman.
