Petition for divorce--Peter VanGundy vs Martha VanGundy
On Feb 7, 1855, a petition for divorce was filed by Peter VanGundystat ing he had been a resident of Pickaway Co for more than one yearand th at on Jan 15, 1827 he married Martha Jester and that theylived togeth er as man and wife until about Apr 10, 1850 when heabandoned her for j ust cause. "She having been guilty of grossnegligence and adultery an d that she has been guilty of adultery forthree years and more by coha biting and committing adultery, proof ofwhich is that she has had thre e children since their separation andthat she lives in Jackson Townshi p with one Joseph Tipton. Thepetitioner further states that she also c ommitted adultery with oneJonathan Madden about the 10th day of March 1 852."
There was no mention of any children between them.
