Notes for Pyrrhus WOODWARD/Mary E HAWKINS

6/22/1850 Milford, Wayne Co, IN. Mary was reported to the Quakers
because she "married contrary to discipline" and they condemned her
misconduct on 7/27/1850.

Ironically, she was later described in one history as "a noble
Christian woman, of domestic disposition, a devoted wife and loving
mother, of whom too much cannot be said in her honor. She is most
affectionately remembered by the people of New Castle, many of whom
knew her, during her quiet, peaceful life, as 'Aunt Mary Woodward.'"
