BECOMES BRIDE OF DEWEY
DECKARD SATURDAY EVE
Ceremony Takes Place In Presence Of
Sixty Of The Relatives And Friends
Miss Grace Powell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Powell living
in the country east of this city was united in marriage on Saturday
evening at 8:30 o'clock to Dewey Deckard of Decatur. The ceremony was
performed by Rev. W.B. Hopper of this city in the presence of about
sixty of the relatives and friends of the contracting parties. The
ring ceremony was used. Mrs. Frances Powell, sister-in-law of the
bride, played the wedding march as the young couple took their places
in front of the bank of ferns and flowers.
After the ceremony a two-course buffet luncheon was served.
The bride is well known in Sullivan where she has always made her
home. She has been active in the work of the Jonathan Creek church
and has been a leader in both the Sunday school and the Young People's
society. She had also been an active member of the Sullivan Township
Household Science club.
The groom for a time lived at the Powell home while he assisted
Mr. Powell with his farm work. He a son of Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Deckard
of Gamaliel, Ky. He has a position now with the Staley factory at
Decatur and the young couple will make their home in that city at 1555
East North street."
