The 2/10/1894 Decatur (IL) Herald Dispatch printed the following inthe M acon, IL news column:
"The wedding of John VanGundy to Clara Walker took placeyesterday a t high noon. About 150 guests were present. They willlive in Macon w here the groom is engaged in an elevator.
Those who attended the VanGundy-Walker from Decatur were ClayMont gomery and wife, Dick Allinson and wife, and Albert McGee andwife."
IL marriage records say they married on 2/7/1894 as confirmed by thefo llowing in the Weekly newspaper:
"At the home of Mr and Mrs Elijah Walker in Macon, at 12 o'clock,n oon, Wednesday, Feb.7, occurred the marriage of their daughter MissCla ra to John Van Gundy. The ceremony was performed by Rev. J EEckman, p astor of the Macon Methodist church. Fully 150 invitedguests witnesse d the ceremony and following congratulations, asplendid dinner was ser ved. County Treasurer, H. C. Montgomery,Albert Magee and wife, and R. T . Allinson and family of Decatur wereamong the guests. Mr. and Mrs. V an Gundy will at once commencehousekeeping in a handsomely furnished h ouse at Macon."
